Problems
« on: 2015 November 01 19:48:21 »
I'm having problems doing basic things in PI. When I integrate my images (after calibrating) and debayer them it looks like a rainbow! When I open just one image and debayer it I get the expected result.
When I do a background extraction it extracts the background but it also leaves it in the image. I've watched the videos, followed the tutorials and I do not get the same results.

Any help would be nice.

Thanks,
Zac

are you registering the images before integrating them?

by default, DBE only generates the background model. this is i guess so that you can evaluate it. if you want to make DBE do something, you have to set the mode (subtraction or division). again by default DBE generates a new image with the background subtracted, but if you tick "replace target image" it will do just that.

note that 99% of the time you should be using "subtraction" as the DBE/ABE mode.

hi Zac!
First Calibration, Second DEBAYER, third Register, Fourth Integration.

If you integrate before debayrer you get rainbows!

Sweet! Now I'm getting somewhere. I will say I like the results so far. I have 16 hrs of data on the Crescent Nebula from a heavy light pollution area (red zone) and I really do not want to throw it away. It does take awhile but I have the 300+ from the Atik 414ex OSC and now to the 140 from the Atik 4120ex OSC.  The goal is to get the 4120's luminescence because the pixels are 3.1 um and split the 414 into RBG as the pixels are 6.45 um. They are different resolutions and I'm hoping this is not a problem in PI.
Thanks for the help.

great, good to hear that!

the differing pixel scales should not be a problem - staralignment can handle this.
