Speed bump on first baby steps - help!

I think (thought) I had PI figured out well enough to start on a set of images.  I started the BatchPreprocessing script and loaded sets of Biases, Flats and Lights.  I'm skipping Darks for now due to concerns raised about issues with Canon DSLRs.  (I'm using the Canon 7D Mk II.) 

I've left all the settings for each set at the defaults and checked Calibrate Only, as I have the information (I think) to do the subsequent steps separately -- SubframeSelector, ImageRegistration, ImageIntegration, etc.

But after loading the files, in the BatchPreprocessing window, when I click Diagnostics I get two error messages:
No installed file format can write .xisf files
No dark frames have been selected (but I’m not doing Darks and didn't load any)

Hey! I think I can help with this one! I'm new to PixInsight too, but have been working at it for the past couple of months with increasingly good results.

What you need to do is to change the ".xisf" in the "Output file suffix:" box (under the check boxes on the right side of the BatchPreprocessing screen) to ".fits".

Simple fix! The other one about dark frames will just prompt you, but it will continue.

The "No dark frame" is just a warning like Duane pointed out. You can continue with the script.

The "No installed format...xisf" can be fixed if your follow the directions from the FAQ in the main PI website. It is FAQ 3.9 http://www.pixinsight.com/faq/index.html '3.9 On Windows, one or more modules are suddenly not available anymore after an update.'

What you need to do is to change the ".xisf" in the "Output file suffix:" box (under the check boxes on the right side of the BatchPreprocessing screen) to ".fits".

Please note that the FITS format has been declared obsolete in PixInsight. It will continue being supported exclusively for compatibility with legacy data and raw data generated by other applications, but future versions of PixInsight will implement many advanced features only available through the XISF format.

As Mike has pointed out, FAQ 3.9 provides valid information about this problem on Windows and its solution.

I'm on a Mac -- MacPro Tower, OS 10.10.5.  Does this mean I should not have gotten that error? 

I'm starting with Canon .CR2 files (7D Mk II). 

I changed the .xisf suffix to .fits and was able to proceed with selecting lights but I'm now stuck on aligning them.  I can get the ImageRegistration window and load the _c_d_a files but I see no Run button -- do I just leave this window and pull up the ImageIntegration module to proceed?

Does these mean I should cease to convert my RAW files to fits files but convert to xisf files before calibrating etc?

Hi Alec, in BPP Script add your Bias, Darks, Flats and Lights in Raw format, no need to convert them. In Options leave .xisf format as default.
