project updates not saved
« on: 2015 September 24 01:33:55 »
I haven't double checked yet, as I was  a bit depressed after having lost a day...

Yesterday I created a new workspace and continued my work on the different workspaces.

I saved the project (I usually overwrite) several times.

at the end of the day I restarted the system , opened the project and discovered that all my work on the newly created workspace was gone.
the workspace is empty.

On the contrary, all the latest changes operated in the first 4 workspace are there ( I have there some masks I created for the processing I carried out in workspace 5).

Fedora 22, latest PI build.

Thank you very much,
Andrea

Bug confirmed. The Save PixInsight Project dialog does not preserve the state of the Include all workspaces check box across successive project write operations. Consequently, if the user loads or saves a project, creates a new workspace, and then writes the project, the newly created workspace won't be included in the project unless explicitly added to the dialog's  list of workspaces.

This bug is a regression, present also in version 1.8.3. It is now fixed in the new 1.8.4 version that I am going to release in a few days.

I apologize for this error, which has caused you an important data loss. I feel very bad and hate when this happens, but unfortunately, despite all the care we try to put in our work, happens from time to time...

Hi Juan, Thank you.
I fully understand, don't worry.
It will be the chance to improve my image :-)

Juan

If I'm understanding you correctly this bug happens when you define a new workspace during a successive project session. If the workspaces are defined before saving the initial project and none are added during subsequent project saves then your saved project will included all workspaces if they are selected or the 'Include all workspaces' box is checked.

One quick question, I would guess empty workspaces add very little to no space to a saved project? I keep 8 workspaces defined and named by default so I don't have to add during processing.
