ABE question
« on: 2015 March 29 15:34:48 »
I like the results I get with ABE.  The background is more neutral and flattened than I am able to get with DBE (which probably points to the idea that I'm not applying DBE correctly).

However, one thing that often seems to happen is that after ABE there is a dark halo around the main structure in the image, such as a galaxy.  Is there a way to apply ABE and mitigate this dark halo?

Joel

Try reducing the Deviation setting. Tick the draw sample boxes and just try samples and it will give you a pretty good visual impression of where it is placing samples before you actually go ahead and apply it.

If ABE does not work for you, try DBE (DynamicBackgroundExtraction). It is more work than ABE, but also give you more control about the places where the background is sampled.

Thank you Chris.  Reducing the deviation helped a lot, and following up with DBE did the trick.
