Copying of Licence file does not work
« on: 2017 September 28 03:56:16 »
Hi All. Sorry if this not correct for here. This is my first post and I am a newbie to Pixinsight, but very impressed with it. The problem is I followed the instructions to to be able to run PI on my two Macs. So installed on one, activated it with my full license keys. I then copied over the PI created key file to the my Users folder on the other Mac. Again installed PI and then ran it. But it still wants to activate on line, instead of reading the license file i copied over that was created on my other Mac.

What am I doing wrong :(

Cheers

Hi Paul,

Welcome to PixInsight Forum. Please see FAQ 2.10 to reactivate your license on a different machine. This automated procedure is the recommended way to install and use PixInsight on several machines, or after a system reinstall. Copying license files also should work; if it doesn't, that's because the file is either renamed or modified while copied.

hi Juan. Thanks for the reply. I copied the file up to my google drive then copied it back using the other Mac. Do you think may have caused the problem then?

On my Macs, the file is in my 'home' directory, and is called 'pixinsight-license' (without the quotes).

Open a terminal, cd to ~, then list (ls) the directory. You should see the file there. Perhaps the copy changed the file name, maybe adding an extension?
Or look in Finder ..
