Combining Ha subs of different lengths
« on: 2015 January 06 12:04:29 »
Hi all,

I'm new to pixinsight and loving it. I'm busy imaging M42 using Ha for the Lum channel. I've decided to take Ha shots in 300,180,60 lengths to help bring out the detail in the core as it's a very bright target.

is there a specific way or method to combine my Ha subs of different lengths.

Rich.

A those numbers in seconds? If so, I believe that you will end up with pretty dark image. Ha filter usually needs a much longer exposures.

the target is M42, so it's super bright, so have no concerns about sub length. Just interested in how i combine them as i'm very new to PI.

First combine frames with same exposure length, then latter in processing combine images with different lengths to pull out the core.

Thanks Steve,

The HDR Composition tool was exactly what i need. Haven't had a chance to try it yet, but it looks like a superb tool.

Many Thanks,
Rich.

I just finished an RGB HDR Composition of M42 but I wasn't aware that the core was an Ha rich target. Is that true? Might be interesting to add that in.
