HaRGB workflow
« on: 2014 October 02 04:01:36 »
I have Ha binned 1x1 and R, G,B binned 2x2.  Is this the correct workflow:

Load Bias, flats, Dark masters, Ha, RGB in BPP and select an Ha as reference
Do I then run star align in BPP or separate as I would with image integration?
Then I will have 4 images (ha, R,G,B)

Ha: -dynamic crop-DBE-Denoise-Deconvolution
R,G,B:  Dynamic crop-DBE-Combine to form RGB image-BN-ColCal then combine with Ha (NBRGB Combination script); In NBRGB script, check bandwidth are correct for Ha and RGB, determine correct multiplier and then run.

process the image as the Ha RGB.

Should I denoise the combined RBG prior to combining with Ha?
I assume the Star Align process with correct the binning for NBRGB script.  Is that correct?

Suggestions, thoughts

Lots of denoise techniques... I use GREYCstoration in Linear mode then combine and do the rest of denoising later...  I may mask early with a L mask reversed and apply ATM but I think it is best not to reduce the signal before you do HDRM or any of the nebula enhancement tricks.

BTW, check out the script under AIP multichannel synthesis for adding in H-alpha... try the default setting first...

For denoising in Linear mode, be sure to give the new MLT tool a try.  It does an amazing job and has a built in masking mechanism.  I love the results.  And I always do my denoising separately for my color and Lum components, including when shooting with narrowband.  In fact, I don't combine them until after I have done my HT or masked stretch for each.

Best,

Jim

can you use the NBRGB script with non linear images?

They are all aligned with same reference image (ha).  Clearly I was off a fair amount with camera rotation between the Ha and RGB.
