Processing HaRGB

I bought PI a couple of months ago and have followed the video tutorials and have had a go myself with my old data most of it taken with two different cameras a QHY8 Pro for the RGB and a QHY9m for the Ha when I can I hope to get all the data with my mono camera I have had some different results processing the data in PI as before I used Image Plus and then finished off in PS my question is will it be OK to use the data from the two cameras or does PI give better results with data taken with the one camera. Just another small point I tried using Harry's HaRGB tutorial and could not get the second formula to work in pixel Math has anyone else had this problem ? as I could not see an explanation on the screen to say what went wrong it just said error if anyone has a bit time to answer my questions I would be obliged.

Bob,

You should be able to combine the data from different cameras just fine in PI.  As to Harry's tutorial, can you copy the formula you used so we can see what you might have done?

Use the script for HaRGB that comes with Pix.
You dont need anything else.

Hi Jim Thanks for the info about the two cameras. With Harry's tutorial the first Pixel math formula worked provided by Vincent Peris but the second one would not it was St+(ha-Med(ha))*4  and came up with ' Error: image not found ' I went over this a few times but could get no further. I did manage to combine the Ha into the Red channel with the help of Neil's tutorial from Insideastronomy .

The script is very straightforward and it is using Harry's formula. You cant go wrong.

Hi Dimitris  The script I found in my scripts in my program was NBRGB combination script and I combined the Ha with the RGB and it did combine it but had a washed out look I was trying to blend the Ha into the Red then combine does this script do that ?

Hey do not forget the script in the Multichannel synthesis for the AIP "Ze French" group.  You might just also try that at default values.  I found it does a nice job adding in the Ha.

A couple of things.  You wrote that you used the following:  St+(ha-Med(ha))*4  .  I see two possible places where you may have messed up.  First, "St" should be written as "$T" which means the target you are applying the formula to.  Second, you need to take out the term "ha" in both instances and replace it with the name of your own Ha image.  Easiest way to do that is to open the expression editor in PixelMath, highlight "ha" and then select the appropriate image (which you need to have open) from the images log.  Double click on that image name and it will replace "ha".  Then simply apply the formula to your Red image.

I think you hit the nail on the head as I did think that S looked like a dollar sign but harry said it was a S so I put in the S I will give that another go. thanks for the feed back.

It was in the second pixel Math formula which was supplied by Vincent Peris ' $T+(ha-Med(ha))*4 ' the S looked like a dollar sign to me but in the video you said S which I put in and try as I may it came up with ' Error: image not found ' so I have run it again with the dollar sign and now it works a treat and by the way many thanks for going to the trouble to help newbies to PI like me with out your videos I would be still at the starting gate.
