When to Upsample image in processing scheme
« on: 2014 September 07 09:19:35 »
Hi everyone!

I am processing some Ha data obtained with a DSLR.  My method is to:

1. Calibrate Lights with Dark, Bias, Flats
2. Debayer with SuperPixel method
3. Extract R channel
4. Register and Integrate the R channels

So my question is- in order to later combine with an RGB image I have to upsample to match the sizes again, since the Superpixel method decreases the image size.  When should you upsample?

Before any further processing (right after integration) or After processing the Ha Data (linear and non-linear)?

Also is it better to process your OSC image and HA image to completion before combining or Combine first then process?

Thanks for any insights!
Cheers
Carlos

Hi Carlos,

Consider using drizzle integration with your Ha DSLR images. The resulting image will be the same size as their RGB counterparts and the stars which were undersampled due to superpixel debayering become rounder afterward.

 Hope that helps!
