Can't remove the glow around an open cluster...
« on: 2014 August 29 10:14:20 »
Hi all,

This is an image of M52, shot with a TV101 and QHY9C. 22 x 300 sec subs, calibrated with bias and darks in PI 1.8. I did use my 2" IDAS LP filter as I'm in the suburbs near a bright city, but I can see Milky Way on good transparent nights, which was the case the night I captured this data.

I'm trying to remove the glow about the cluster. It does not seem to be there on images I find of M52 on the web, so I'm assuming it doesn't belong. ABE or DBE do not seem able to remove this. I'm stumped. Ideas anyone?

Hi Gardner,
Maybe you can upload your integration and someone can make a try. In the .jpg is difficult to see the problem.
Saludos, Alejandro.

Hi Gardner,
Sorry that I did not express correctly. What would be needed is the Integration without further processing to apply DBE or ABE to the linear image. If you used BPP is the image called light_BINNING_1.fit
Saludos, Alejandro.

Not sure what affect the LP filter would have on a normal night. Personally I don't see this glow but then I also think the image is rather dark to start with. It would help to know what has been done to the image and in what order.

Alejandro.

Here is the file after calibration and stacking, no further processing applied.

Thanks for taking a look at this.

Hi Gardner

Try this DBE process in your light_BINNING_1.fit image.
