PI 1.8.1.1087 Access violations and then crashes
« on: 2014 February 08 11:09:35 »
Hello
If I close a project and then open another one, during the load,  I get lots of memory access violations messages on console, and finally PI crashes, having to  close the application.

If I restart PI and load the same project, it loads ok.

This is on Windows 7 64 bit.

Regards
Geert

Hi Geert,

I have been unable to reproduce anything similar to this with any of our test projects (and some of them are really huge) on any platform.

Is this reproducible on your machine?

Sorry Juan. I could not reproduce it again.

I supose it must be  something the first project left over (altough nothing strange happened there).

have you tried running the mersenne prime search program on your computer? it really works the CPU and the memory system to a certain extent.

http://www.mersenne.org/download/index.php

also there's memtest86 which you can burn onto a CD or DVD and boot from it; that will tell you if you have any issues with the RAM in your computer.

http://www.memtest.org/#downiso

that explosion of errors seems like something wrong with your hardware…

Have run several Hw tests, and no one gave fault results.

Also, the only program who crashes in my computer is PixInsight, and this is the second time it crashes the same way....

Hi Geert,

Could you post the .xosm project file (as an attachment compressed as a zip file)? Have you installed some unofficial modules?

Hello Juan.
Here is the project file that caused the last crash (I don't remember if it was the same the first time).

I only have as extra the Carlos Milovic Modules.

Note.
I have several projects that were created before the last PI version. I am not sure if the first project I loaded was one of these.
