Mosaic from non overlapping images
« on: 2014 March 07 00:52:23 »
I have been looking at images from Hubble legacy archive.

A lot of the images are split in the middle like the one shown here.

I have read up on StarAlignment and Imagesolving but it seems it can not solve this frame. Is it at all possible to make a mosaic of such an image as this using PI? Or should I give up and use PS?

regards

Mats

if you define previews over the parts of the images that overlap, by default StarAlignment will only look in the previews. that might help things a bit.

It is not a matter of giving up or not giving up. If you think that Photoshop can make a mosaic better with this data, then go ahead and use it. We are not going to blame you or judge you for anything. Just don't tell us what you do or not do in Photoshop, since we are not interested in that here.

Please Juan, don't take offense. I was merely asking if this is something that is possible in PI. All tools have their limitations. I would not try to cut a board with a hammer.
I have now found and used ManualImageSolver, CatalogStarGenerator and other processes. And the documentation is excellent on these processes. Will share the fruits of my tribulations with all of you.
