FITS File header & Image Solving
« on: 2014 February 15 13:23:35 »
Hello All,

This problem may be discussed in another post within this forum - if it is I apologise for this repeat.

I capture my images using Maxim DL and process using Pixinsight.
The script BPP works well for me and gives very good results.

When I use the script image solver it fails.
And so I cannot Annotate Image.

With the file view FITS Header it does not contain the RA and Dec for some strange reason.
Now if I stack in Maxim and save the output file and take into Pixinsight the script image solver works and subsequently the Annotate image works

I am a little confused by this - anyone any ideas

Regards

Martin

ImageIntegration (II) does not keep the FITS headers of the original images. Some people has requested that II keeps some of the keywords (coordinates, object, filter, ...) that keep their meaning after the II process, but this has not been implemented (yet?).

Meanwhile, you simply have to fill by hand the coordinates and resolution fields in the script ImageSolver. You can find their values inspecting the header of one of the original images using the process FITSHeader.

I recently had the problem of lost FITS keywords as well. In this case integrated bias and flat files hat lost their binning keywords. This led BPP to complain about missing calibration files.

I know that i can add "custom" files. But the better solution would be that ImageIntegration and ImageCalibration would keep all keywords that are identical in all source files, and optionally keep the differing keywords for instance in a list of source keywords - or something like this. This certainly would be better than loosing everything.

Hello Andres,
Tried your recommendation tonight and it worked just fine.
Knowing this workaround will help.
The annotate script is very useful know I found how to add the magnitude and other information as well.

Thanks

Martin
