Better announcement of new releases
« on: 2014 January 24 03:56:15 »
There are always some users confused when there is a new full release, as they expect to update it via the normal update channel. I understand why this is not always possible.

But would it be possible that the update check displays a message if there is a newer full release available,  with the information that they must do a full install (possibly pointing to the announcement forum) ? I think this could save some frustration.

This is something I've been wanting to have done for a long time. Since I have to release a new version now, I have implemented it:

Anyway, it never ceases to amaze me how a lot of users (hundreds, actually) either don't receive our notifications—outdated email addresses, spam filters—or simply ignore them.

Hi

When I change my email address. Where should I report this change to receive future
emails about updates?

Regards Franz

Thank you,
You will be surprised at the number of emails I do NOT read, even from providers of software I own. Or mails that stay in the inbox forever, because I am not using the product for a few month and then forget about the mail.
Anyhow, with this announce you have done your best - but I am sure that there will still be people dismissing it and then trying to access new features  ;)  Hopefully not me...
