Require confirmation for new instances

I have been bitten too often by the problem of restarting PI too quickly, and not realizing immediately that I have a second instance, with different defaults.This happens especially when PI crashes on close, on W7. It seems others are surprise by the second instance.
Would it be possible to have a confirmation box when a second instance is started? May it could be disabled by command line option if desirable.

This would be one way... I already suggested a number of times that different PI instances should share their settings. I am not aware of any other program that keeps seperate sets of settings for seperate instances. I am pretty sure that this is also the cause of some other strange effects reported as bugs, such as lost scripts or disappearing updates...

This wish is solved to my satisfaction in 1.8.1.
I tried to stop PI in Windows 7 when having a huge workspace and restarted it immediately after and I did not get a separate instance.
