No compatible image in LRGB Tool?
« on: 2014 January 07 01:17:20 »
I am using the trial version of pixinsight. I open my RGB images and start the LRGB combination tool. I un tick the L Channel, But when I go to select the images in that tool, They are not available. It says "no compatible image".

If I combine the images in photo shop I can save it and then edit that in pixinsight.
I am stacking the 4 individual LRGB data in deep sky stacker and saving them as TIFF files. Is this my problem should I be saving as Fit files.

Hope someone can help me out

M

Actually saving as a fit did not work either. But if I open a single sub unstacked and un calibrated it will identify that in the LRGB tool. So am thinking it is something to do with deep sky stacker. Have watch a lot of tutorials and this problem never seems to come up. What am I doing wrong.

Do the image sizes match?

Yes they have not been cropped and I can use the tabs to link the zoom function. Which should mean they are all identical.

Probably you are trying to use as source an RGB image instead of grayscale ones.

Not since version 1.8.0 of the PixInsight Core application. Zoom/position can now be transferred between views of different dimensions (position is scaled automatically).

I am just coming to the same conclusion. The subs are grayscale but once they have gone through DSS they are being saved as 16b TIFF RGB. So my problem is with DSS. How do I get to save it as gray scale. Or am I missing something else.

But I am sure the images are the same size as they are un edited full frame stacks. The only problem here would be if the stacks are different sizes because of the stacking artefacts at the edge of the image.(of which I can not see much). How do you guys stack and calibrate your images?

Take a look at the BatchPreprocessing script.

The images need to be compatible in size. If one is 1000x2000, and the other is 1001x2000, than they cannot be combined. You can use DynamicCrop to resize them.

Ok have used the dynamic crop on all the LRGB images but it still says no compatible images. I am sure it's to do with the fact that the say RGB image before the file name not gray scale.

Found the problem :D it's a check box in DSS go into digital development settings click on the fits tab and un tick the monochrome 16bit FITS Files are created by a dslr or a color CCD camera. It was saving them as an RGB image from my days when I used a DSLR.

Thanks for your help everyone.
