PixInsight Standard and Image Registration
« on: 2006 February 04 11:39:07 »
Hi Juan,

I was wondering if you have any new info as to the release of the commercial version of PI?  Also, I wanted to know if the new version will have an image registration process similar to Registar that will allow you to not only stack multiple images, but also register them for mosaics?

I would also be very interested in any new tutorials that you may be getting ready to release for Wavelets and SGBNR.

Thanks
Gary

PixInsight Standard and Image Registration

Hi Gary,

Sorry for taking so long in getting back to you.

As you probably know, we have just released a first public beta version of PixInsight Standard. In case you haven't seen it already, here's the link:

http://pleiades-astrophoto.com/pixinsight/pcl/

The page above is provisional - this forum and our entire website are being redesigned right now.

This first beta application still provides very little functionality, but I hope in a month or so we'll surpass the functionality of the current LE application.

Of course we want to include image registration capabilities in the new PixInsight application. There will be several modules implementing image registration algorithms. However, take into account that Registar implements an extremely good and performing algorithm.

As you know, PixInsight is a modular, open-architecture application. This means that anybody with enough programming skills can author processing modules, including image registration of course. I hope that a growing number of software developers will get involved in PixInsight/PCL development. So all is possible...  :)

Regarding more tutorials and documentation... please be patient with us. We are involved in a huge project, and these are transitional times for us.
As soon as we get our website fully updated, and the new application somewhat "stabilized", we'll start to face the documentation tasks again.

Thank you for your continued interest and support.
Juan
