Help with Veil Nebula

I have collected rgb images of the Veil Nebula but the star field overwhelms the Nebula (visually). Can anyone recommend a technique to reduce the stars (sizes?) to allow the Nebula to appear more clearly.

You can make a star mask, invert it, and then use the morphological tool to shrink the stars.

You may also want to check out RBA's tutorial on star-shrinking:
http://www.deepskycolors.com/archive/2011/09/08/star-size-reduction-via-Morphological-.html
He demonstrated this here at AIC yesterday (using a different image), and we were able to see it work well in real-time.
