Artifact around stars in registration process
« on: 2013 August 08 13:05:19 »
Hello everyone.
I write because i have problem in registration step. On the left you can see the image after calibration, and on the left after registration. As you can see there are still hot pixel after calibration step, maybe because dark of my ccd are very old, and on the registrated image hot pixel appear more bright and dark ring appear around other stars.

Which is the reason for this strange behaviour? how can i prevent it?

Matter suggests to space as it needs to bend;
space returns the favor suggesting to matter as should moves

ringing due to negative lobes in lanczos interpolation transfer function. experiment with clamping threshold or try another interpolation method...

Using a different interpolation method worked for me.

I've always gotten this artifact on 2x2 binned subs with the auto/0.3 setting in ImageRegistration.  Using Bicubic Spline and a setting of 0.1 works fine for me on those.
