Thank you everybody!
It happened also to me that the site sometimes was not accessible. Probably it is a problem of the hosting. If it will continue to happen I will change the hosting to one more reliable.
For the MMT I always use a trial and error approach, and also in this case I've applied it one layer at time, beginning with the first layer and setting the threshold and the adaptive parameters; in case the denoise is too excessive I then decrease the amount a little.
And I always use a preview to speed up the procedure. Then I apply the tool to the whole image.
Going back to the workfolw, a thing that I have seen is that at the end of the whole process, the "luminosity" of the image is always affected, expecially for the stars that lose their sparkling. I think that some processing of the "small scale" image too must be made, in order to keep high the stars brightness after the sum with PixelMath.
I will try to get more into it when I'll process the orion's belt image (the other I took the night of M42 field). I made a quick process of it and I posted it on the site, but I want to restart the processing from the beginning, including also this new aspect about the highlights. If you wish you can find the image
here (it's only in italian language, sorry
)
When I will be done with the processing of the Orion's Belt I will put everything online.
Emanuele.
