3 Requests: Window Switch, Hist Scaling, & Save History
« on: 2007 November 18 14:08:33 »
I have three wish list items:

[list=1]
  • To compare versions of an image, I would like to be able to toggle among images using the keyboard.  The most common method is ctrl-tab, but any keyboard method would be good.
  • When you increase the vertical scale of the histogram, the view of the histogram moves up, so to see the bottom (where I am always looking) I need to scroll the histogram down.  If the anchor for the histogram window could be the base of the current view that would be very convenient.
  • I often want to save the processing I have done on an image.  It would be very nice to be able to save the history as a .psm file from the history window.  I have been dragging each step to the desktop and then saving the icons, but a direct method would be easier
  • [/list:o]

    Thanks,

Hi Andy

I'm sure Juan will add your first two suggestions to the "to do" list. Thanks for the ideas.

About the third, you can already save the entire processing history. On the History View, take the "drag and drop object" and drop it on the background. This way you create a new Process Container, with all the steps of the history. Now, you can play with this container (double click the icon), modify it's contents, add new elements, etc.

Actually the second suggestion is already in his "to do" list ;). I guess that the most sensible solution would be to just do a zoom-in towards the center of the currently displayed area.

Hi Andy,

Thank you for three excellent suggestions.

As David has said, the zoom problem in the HistogramTransform window is already in our to-do list.

Your third suggestion is a good idea which I'll try to implement as soon as possible. It will be a new tool button on the History Explorer and ProcessContainer windows.

With respect to the first suggestion, the problem is that the core application is already quite "saturated" with respect to hot key assignments. I'll think on a suitable key combination. Ctrl+Tab and Alt+Tab are not feasible because these keys already have important tasks assigned on the KDE desktop environment (Linux) (I think the same is true for Gnome). Something to think with care, but I agree it would be desirable to have hot keys available to switch between image windows.

First, thanks for the positive response.  I've already tested out dropping a process container and will use that approach going forward.

Perhaps you could implement a "blink" or "animate" feature that would move between selected images.  Perhaps even include options to match zoom or scale.  That is really what I was using ctrl-tab for, the hot key part of it wasn't important.

Thanks,
