PI 1.08 - Ripley crashes with DBE both on 64bit and 32bit

Hello all,

First of all my wishes of a Merry Christmas and a great Holiday Season to all and families.

Well, now for some not so pleasant news.

I upgraded PI v1.08 on  two of my 3 laptops. One is a powerfull beast with the W7 64bt OS and the other is a medium power W7 32bt machine.

On both I had a few hours of preprocessing following Warren's great stacking section of the rolling tutorial. Until I got to my usual step of DBE...:-(...

On the 64bt machine, as soon as I entered my usual parameters for DBE (harry's) and clicked to execute an error message showed up (posted on this topic) and immediately after PI 1.08 crashed. Suspecting the problem was with my newbie hiccups, I went back to a previous and already posted Image Integrated fits file (2nd M42 that you might have already seen here on the forum)...and it crashed too - with the same error message - on the DBE tool of the PI 1.08 64bits.

So I emigrated to the 32bit machine where I had installed the 32 bit version of PI 1.08 Ripley...and the exact same thing happened.

So, on both machines, with both versions of PI 1.08, and with both W7 - 64bt and 32bt - the DBE tool has an error message and then PI crashes completely.

Can anyone how to fix this, or if it's a bug that is still to be fixed?

Remember...Alien the 8th passenger? When Ripley got in the escape pod at the end of the movie...an alien escaped with her....maybe this it the case...:-)))))

try disabling parallel processing, it seems to be at the root of the problems with PI 1.8.

Thanks, Mate,

I guess fiddling with the console is - for a clumsy newbie like me - and  as we say in Portuguese: "too much sand for my truck" :-))))

I was planning on rolling back to PI V1.07 and thats one of Ignacios' suggestions until they come out with a fixed Ripley version in January.

I'll do just that later on today after I stuff myself up with...stuffed turkey today for lunch :-)

you can also open the global preferences and disable the multithreading in the gui...
