Trial version installation on two computers
« on: 2012 October 24 11:49:27 »
Hello!

Some days ago I successfully installed trial Pixinsight version to my home desktop computer with 32
bit Windows Vista.
My photo camera is Nikon D800 with 36Mpix sensor. It makes very big RAW (NEF) files -  for about 45Mb. I've found that it's possible to load only 3 or 4 these files because of out of memory error. That's why I've decided to install its 64 bit version to another computer, which has more
memory, faster processor and 64 bit Windows 7 installed.
Unfortunately, it seems, that trial version may be installed only once. Could you please write me,  what should I do in this case?
Trying to obtain a new trial license?

Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to PixInsight Forum.

A trial license can only be used on a single machine. Feel free to request additional trial licenses, but please use different email addresses, as our system does not allow more than one license associated with the same email account.

Alternatively, we can arrange a license reactivation, to allow you to move your current trial license, but requesting additional licenses is simpler and more flexible for you.

Hello Juan,

thank you very much for your advance, I'll request a new license to my another email address.

By the way, is this possible to avoid out of memory error working on 32 bit Windows versions with very big RAW files?

All 32-bit versions of PixInsight are obsolete. The last 32-bit version for Windows will be released with PI 1.8, but it will be also discontinued next year.

If the out of memory problem happens in ImageIntegration, which is typical, you can reduce its buffer size parameter to lower memory requirements. If you set it to zero, the images will be integrated row by row (with a high performance cost, however).

The only solution to this problem is using a 64-bit version of PI on a 64-bit operating system.
