New to Pixinsight - batch preprocessing script.
« on: 2012 October 06 20:44:37 »
Good evening -

As the subject line indicates I'm new to Pixinsight.  I've been running through Warren Kellers online tutorials trying to climb the the PI learning curve (looks more like a brick wall right now) and ran into "something green" at the end of the preprocessing script.

Imaging platform is a SBIG ST4000XCM/AO-8 on the back of a Meade 12" 200LX

I'm trying to start from scatch with an image of the cocoon nebula I've already finished using Nebulosity for calibration/combine and PS for post processing chores. The end result is this  -

I've tried tied running through a complete batch preprocessing script including image integration and ended up with with an image that's totally green after I apply an STF auto stretch to the stacked RGB FIT. I know I've got the bayer pattern correct as I can take a single sub and apply a debayer proces on it and the colors come out correctly using the GRBG bayer pattern.

What I'm I missing/doing wrong?

Thanks again,

Dave

Welcome Dave. That's quite normal. You'll need to run Automatic Background Extractor (ABE)with the Target Image Correction set to subtraction, as a rule, with replace target image selected. If you don't want to view the Background image model, select that too.

The other tool, is Dynamic Background Extraction (DBE). It's use is more hands on/involved - the manual version of ABE and preferable in some cases.

Reset STF after the process completes ready for the next process.

Great! -- thanks for the info.  I figured there was something more to the process that I wasn't picking up. I suspect it wont be the last.   ;)

Thanks agin

Dave

Hi

If you unlink the RGB channels on the STF , it will give a better view of what data you have after using DBE , You will get better results 99% of the time with DBE
