MultiscaleMedianTransform
« on: 2012 July 07 23:44:24 »
Hello
I have finally got to use this software. I have noticed people talking about this tool MultiscaleMedianTransform.
My version of pixinsight does not have this tool yet if I "Check for updates" it returns that I have the latest version. (01.07.06.0793 (eng x86)
What am I missing.

Thanks

Jeff,

welcome to the PI forum!

Your PI version indeed seems to be the most recent one.

What you are missing is probably this:
1. Learn how to use PI. The video tutorial on http://pixinsight.com/videos/index.html, in particular those from Harry (at the bottom) are highly recommended. You may also want to have a look at Warren Kellers introduction http://www.ip4ap.com/pixinsight.htm.
2. You may want to learn how to use the Search functionality of the forum. You'll find many answers to your questions there.
3. MultiscaleMedianTransform is under Process/MultiscaleProcessing/MultiscaleMedianTransform

Please note that 32 bit versions of PI become obsolete with the upcoming 1.8 release.

Jeff,

3. MultiscaleMedianTransform is under Process/MultiscaleProcessing/MultiscaleMedianTransform

Hello Georg
Thanks for the reply and thank you for the heads up on the 32bit platform.
I have watched every one of harrys tutorials previously thanks .. very informative, however I have not been able to gleen any more ideas on how I get to this process.
UnfortunatelyI dont have any subordinate under Process called MultiscaleProcessing.
Please see the attached  screen grab. Mine goes from Morphology to Noise Generation
Thank You

The MultiscaleProcessing category is missing. You may be affected by the missing updates problem. See http://pixinsight.com/forum/index.php?topic=4191.msg29433#msg29433 for workaround.

Thanks Georg
I took your advise and installed Win7_64 with VMWare on my 32bit Win 7 .. so I am ready for V1.8 now
The new install has included the missing process and also another one HDRMultiscaleTransform.
All good now for now
Thanks once again
Jeff

Note that running a 64bit VM inside 32bit Windows will give you the worst from both worlds (limited memory from 32 bits, increased memory consumption from 64 bits). If possible, I would recommend to upgrade your base OS to 64 bits.
