Hi all,

PixInsight Core 1.0.47.345 and PCL 1.0.27.148 are now available for download:

http://pixinsight.com/download/STD/

These are maintenance and bug fix releases.

Main Bug Fixes

- Core application: Fixed a bug that was causing improper activations of image windows. For example, with two or more images loaded, the background image window was being brought to the foreground randomly after a message box, or when the application was deactivated and re-activated.

- Core application: Fixed a bug that was causing incorrect changes of the cursor shape on images after hiding a pop up context menu.

- PCL: Fixed a potential crash in kernel MorphologicalTransform routines on multiprocessor/multicore platforms.

- PCL: Several performance improvements to FFTConvolution.

Main Changes and Additions

- Deconvolution: This process has been redesigned, especially the deringing algorithm. An incoming tutorial will describe this fundamental tool in detail.

- Script Editor: Added a "Checksum" option to the Execute menu. This option calculates MD5 and SHA1 checksums for the current script text (in UTF-16 Unicode format). This is useful for validation of scripts downloaded from online resources.

- Two new scripts by David Serrano (PTeam) have been added to the standard set of scripts included in the core application distribution:

* Masked Stretch Transform. This script performs an iterative masked histogram stretch procedure. This is very useful to prevent saturation of stars and other small-scale features. This script has been actively developed, tested and discussed on PixInsight Forum.

* Aberration Spotter. This is a small but useful script that extracts four small crops from the corners of an image, and optionally a central crop too, and plots them on a new image that can be used to evaluate optical aberrations and/or tracking and field rotation errors.

- The splash screen has been finished, including the core application icon. It is now the splash that will be included in the final commercial release.

IMPORTANT: On Windows, please uninstall the previous version by selecting the Uninstall option from the Start menu, under the PixInsight Platform item, before installing the latest package. From now on, don't try to uninstall PixInsight by manually deleting files.
