Out of memory
« on: 2012 June 07 08:36:56 »
My laptop is WIN7-32-4GB and while trying to register image files (ARW or JPG) I have problems with "out of memory" error ....
Is this problem associated with 32-bit windows?

probably. this comes up from time to time and the answer is that W32 is depreciated and your out of memory problems will probably be resolved by using 64-bit windows/PI.

I had 32 bit computer before upgrading to 64 bit. I had the same out of memory error as yours in 32 bit computer. In my case, it happens if I want to align or integrate over 30 subs. The way I resolve this is by changing the following for Image Integration:

Buffer size to 8MB
Cache to 4096MB

Yes, it is 32-bit-system problem ....
It's a pitty it is not mentioned on the main PixInsight webpage, so people who intend to use it are warned/made aware about this issue.
Once switched to 64-bit OS the "out-of-memory" error goes away .....

The product FAQ recommends at least 6GB of memory and a 64bit O.S.:

I've seen that page, but there is a difference between recommending, and not workig, and the software has definitely problems with 32-bit OS ..... and "out-of-memory" issue .....
In other words, if you try to stack a few pictures with a 32-bit machine - you can't do it !!!!!!!!!
