Hi all,
PixInsight Files is a new data storage service available to all PixInsight Forum users. The purpose of this service is to provide a high performance storage area where all users can share images and working data. We think this functionality has become very necessary, given the increased activity in this forum that we have seen recently.
To implement this file sharing service, we have chosen
AjaXplorer, a high-performance AJAX/PHP file browser that works in a similar way to common operating system native file browsers such as Dolphin, Nautilus, Finder, Windows Explorer, etc. For more information you can read the
end user AjaXplorer documentation.
The current implementation of PixInsight Files is still experimental, but it is ready and should be fully operational. To use PixInsight Files, you must be a registered user of this new service. For security and technical reasons, we have decided not to link existing user accounts on other services (file server accounts and forum accounts) automatically with PixInsight Files. This means that you have to request us to create a new user account for you.
PixInsight Files is now available at this address:
http://pixinsight.org/files/and also, once DNSs propagate, at:
http://files.pixinsight.org/If you want to use PixInsight Files, please send us a request at any of our support email addresses, or use the
contact form on our website. Just write a line like "I want to be a PixInsight Files user". To help us identify you, either use the same email address that you have associated with your license, and/or specify your user id. You can find your user id (a 16-digit number) in the email you received when you purchased your license, and also on the
Resources > About PixInsight dialog of the PixInsight Core application.
Unless you tell us otherwise, your PixInsight Files account will have the same user name and password as your current PixInsight user account (which you use to access our
Software Distribution interface).
I hope you find this new service useful.
