PixInsight - From Input to Output
« on: 2011 December 30 16:18:35 »
Would be great if u folks could have a (similar to a RAW file processing seminar for terrestrial photographers) Pixinsight
seminar that would be a week long seminar for the beginner. It should cover all the steps to get to a finished image, starting
with the acquired .FITS data files.

Is there any such resource (a PDF, web site) on the web? I would love to be using PI rather than a generic solution such
as Photoshop.

ps: i am familiar with harry's site, rogelio etc.,

You said the magic words:

``Pixinsight seminar''

Oh man, how nice that would be. I would love to attend some sort of PI seminar, especially one in which I could bring data from my scope and camera, and learn how to get the most out of it. I guess that `Pixinsight coaching' is what I'm really dreaming of.

There are some wonderful PI resources out there, such as Harry's videos, Rogelio's tutorials, and the tutorials and examples on the PI website. I think, however, that there's no limit to the number of PI how-to's that *could* be made.

What we need is `the Scott Ireland of PI', and `the Warren Keller of PI', and `the Tony Hallas of PI', and `the Adam Block of PI', and `the Ron Wodaski of PI', and `the Jerry Lodriguss of PI', and `the Berry and Burnell of PI', and so on and so on. In order for us ordinary folks to master PI, there would, ideally, be a *lot* of instructional material out there, from many different authors.

Hopefully that will happen someday, and like I said, I'm extremely grateful for what we have, thanks in many cases to volunteers like Harry and RBA. And another shout-out to Juan and the crew for their ongoing documentation efforts - I think this is a great idea.

Thanks for that very kind vote of confidence Marek! I'd actually began a series. I hoped to do it with Dave Raphael who got too busy w/ school. Harry volunteered to help and actually Rogelio may be interested in collaboration. I'm hoping I can resume again. I do feel like you, and again thanks- that I can bring a context and chronology to the table, however many of you are far more advanced with PI than I am. That being said, I am using it regularly and enjoying it for the first half of postprocessing and learning all the time.
Best always, Warren
