HDR Layers in Upsampled Data?
« on: 2012 January 14 12:42:14 »
Hi,

I have an undersampled image. HDR with 3 layers or 4 layers both look good. I wanted to try something between 3 and 4, so I upsampled my image X4. I tried to HDR it with 3.5 X 4 = 14 layers. The result was the same as 14 layers on the X1 image. I tried 3 layers on the X4 image, and it is the same as 3 layers on the X1 image.

So now I'm confused. I thought HDR layers were directly related to the pixel-size of features within the image, and no other factor. Now ... it almost seems as if HDR is scaling the layer definitions by the image size. Except that's silly, because then previews would lose some/all validity for use with HDR.

Can someone please explain?

Thanks,
Steve
