Saving images to other formats
« on: 2011 November 13 21:09:01 »
I'm just starting out using PixInsight and the tutorials are very helpful.  I have a problem when trying to save my final processed fits image to a different format(jpeg, tiff).  I can save it, but when I open in another program to view it all the data is "lost".  It's as if it has been "unstretched", no detail, a couple of faint stars, otherwise all black.  Am I missing something?

Hi Jim,

Make sure you are not seeing the image in PI with STF applied on it (STF is only for display purposes, does not change the actual pixel values of the image) If this is the case, you need to transfer the STF values to HT process (drag and drop the STF blue triangle over HT bottom bar), and then apply.

Regards,

Enzo.

Hi,

Indeed, this is the only thing i see also, did you apply HT after STF?
STF is some kind of preview allowing to work with the files, HT definitly changes linearity to visible.

thanks guys.  That was it.  Once I transferred STF to HT, I was able to save in png format.
