"First light" using pixinsight - Centaurus A
« on: 2011 October 02 23:48:05 »
Hi all, this is my first post here, I eventually being able to process my shot of Centaurus A from the data I collected few months ago.

Here is the link:
http://www.glitteringlights.com/Images/deepsky/13667287_7Mtr58#1507970918_rjGsC8M-X3-LB

Total exposure was 13 hours (LRGB) from Coonabarabran with my Tec 140APO and my FLI PL16803. More details on my page. I really recommend you to see the full res zoomify version, you can as usual get the image visible full screen clicking the button at the right of the control bar. You can navigate there from the main page or clicking the direct link below:

In this image I used for the first time Pixinsight, quite intensively have to say. I am still learning how to use this software, so far I am happy with the results and find it extremely powerful even if I would like the interface to be a bit more user friendly. I really miss some GUI features, as I will have more experience I will make my wish-list :) However, after having used it I am sure it is going to become my reference tool :) In this image I used DBE, HDR Wavelet, Starmask and morphological transformation, Background neutralization, Color Calibration and ACDNR. I am still playing with other functions, unfortunately the lack of specific tutorials and documentation make it quite difficult (I am referring to AtrousWaveletTransform and deconvolution filters, if you are aware of specific guides please let me know).

I Hope you will like the image, suggestion are welcome.

Hi Marco,

superb image. Regarding the missing documentation, try these collected links of gathered knowledge http://www.drakevisual.com/pixinsight-links/ :-). Especially Juan's forum-post-tutorials about Deconvolution or Background noise reduction with ATWT are hidden pearls.
