What can rejection maps tell us?
« on: 2011 April 15 05:48:37 »
After my exciting discovery of three semisynchronous orbit satellites 8>) ; I wondered how many imagers take a detailed look at their rejection maps?
I would not have stumbled onto these three satellites trails without stretching the rejection_high image. It also just dawned on me that the fuss around the bright stars in the high rejection map is caused by poor seeing.

I am wondering if one could build a "focusing" filter from the bright stars rejection data to help repair the damage from the seeing...

Philip, maybe with pixel math, but I haven't figured out how the basics of pixel math work. I was thinking more along the lines of finding a comet or an asteroid that I could name, just think an object named Cleon! LOL

Ok, I give up. 8>) Getting back to the science, could stretching the pixel rejection image show objects that move in relation to the stars. I can not see any of these three satellites in my image of ngc2244, they only show up in the Integration pixel rejection map.
