CC reference masks not black/white per the tooltips
« on: 2010 August 31 17:03:38 »

Hi,

The white and black reference masks generated by ColorCalibration have color in them. The tooltips say they should be black and white. Which one is correct?
Best,

Both. The black and white reference masks are binarized masks. A binary mask is either black (0) or white (1). However, there is an independent mask for each channel of the reference image(s). So if for example there is a white pixel on the red channel of the background mask which is black on the green and blue channels, then you'll see it as pure red as represented on the screen.

The way I read the tooltips (and understood the way CC works) is that a pixel is either included or not. You're saying each channel is evaluated separately? I don't really understand why each channel is evaluated separately when there's only a single high/low slider rather than one per channel. If the color balance is way off won't that cause issues?

Could you please update the tooltips to include some more information on this topic? Or add it to the module help file :)
