Bugfix Released: ImageCalibration Module v1.0.4
« on: 2010 July 30 05:37:35 »
Hi all,

A new version of the standard ImageCalibration module is now available for all supported platforms. It fixes a bug that has been detected after the release of PixInsight 1.6.1. See this forum thread for the bug report.

1. Installation Files

2. Source Code (for developers)

3. Installation Instructions

All platforms. If you have one or more instances of the PixInsight Core application running, terminate all of them.

Linux/X11. Download the tarball (for example, with wget) for your machine architecture, uncompress it and copy the resulting -pxm.so file to your bin installation directory. For example, assuming you've installed PixInsight on a 'PixInsight' directory under your home directory:

cd ~
mkdir tmp
cd tmp
wget http://pixinsight.com/download/bugfix/ImageCalibration-x11-x86_64-20100730.tar.gz
tar -xzf  ImageCalibration-x11-x86_64-20100730.tar.gz
cp -f ImageCalibration-pxm.so ~/PixInsight/bin

Windows. Download the compressed file (a standard zip file) for your architecture, uncompress it, and copy the resulting -pxm.dll file to your bin installation folder. If you haven't changed it during installation, your bin installation folder is C:\PCL\bin (c:\PCL64\bin for 64-bit versions). Replace the old ImageCalibration-pxm.dll file.

Mac OS X. Download and uncompress the zip file for your architecture (x86 or x86_64). This will create an 'ImageCalibration-pxm.dylib' file. Locate the PixInsight.app application bundle with Finder. Normally, you should have it on your standard /Applications folder, although PixInsight.app can be executed from an arbitrary location. Right-click on PixInsight.app and select 'Show Package Contents'. Now open the Contents/MacOS folder and copy the new 'ImageCalibration-pxm.dylib' file there, replacing the existing file.

Can you download the full 1.6.1 and just reinstall?

Hi Max,

I would have thought the answer would be 'NO'

The 'public domain' release of v1.6.1 (build 'wxyz') must surely be 'fixed in stone' at this point.

Instead, you leave that in place (once it is installed in your PC) and then simply download the 'bug-fix' file and copy it into your install directory, over-writing the original (faulty) module.

So, if you need to repeat the process on a second PC, for example (as I will be doing very shortly), then you still need to perform BOTH steps - i.e. download and install the 'normal' released version, and then copy over the bug-fix module.

Obviously, if you are sensible enough to download and SAVE the install and bug-fix modules, then you can just use this data to populate any secondary PCs that you own (assuming that you need PI running on those machines).

In my case, one Desktop machine done, four Notebooks and a Netbook to go!!

Having problem installing the Windows x86_64 (64-bit) version. Downloads ok and appears with this file name:

ImageCalibration-win-x86_64-20100730.zip.

Has an Internet Explorer icon in front of file name. Problem is file won't unzip. Double clicking file results is endless attempts to open IE. Also, there is no choice to "Extract All" on the menu that appears when I right click the file. So, don't know how to un-zip file. Advice appreciated.

Running Windoze 7 and using Firefox, not IE though IE is installed and when trying to open IC zip file, IE goes crazy.

Thanks,

Steve

Anyone else is having this problem? I've just downloaded the file on Vista x64 and it unzips perfectly. I don't have a Win 7 box at hand, but shouldn't be different.

Try downloading the file by right-clicking it and selecting "Save Link As", instead of clicking the link.

Hi Juan,

Thanks for the prompt response. I did get the file extracted and installed, stumbling on the solution by accident. To see the extract choice on a drop down menu I had to hold down the right mouse button and drag the file. As soon as the file location starts to move the menu with "extract, copy here, move here...." becomes available and I'm able to extract and get to the .dll file. Double clicking the file tries to open it as though it wasn't a zip file, and just a single right click results in the usual drop down menu with "Open, Open with...etc." choices. Perhaps this is normal windoze behavior but seems strange to me and the first time I've had any difficulty like this with a zip file. Anyway, all's well that ends well.

Thanks again for such great support. BTY, 1.6.1 looks great so far.
