Hi Enzo,

Yes, we know this problem. It is an error in the distribution package that we are fixing right now. In a while I'll upload a new package that will install correctly - stay tuned.

My apologies. Thank you.

Hi Enzo,

Finally we have managed to solve this problem. Please download the new installation package for PixInsight Core 1.0.8.237 RC2:

http://pleiades-astrophoto.com/export/PI32-win-01.00.08.237rc2-sfx-20070111-3.exe

and install it as usual. You'll note that the installation process is now faster and simpler.

The cause of this problem was the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 redistributable module, which is now outdated after the release of Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1. Since Microsoft does not offer an updated redistributable module, we have had to redesign the whole PixInsight core distribution to avoid WinSxS side-to-side assemblies for the C++ runtime modules on Windows XP. A bit technical, but the important fact is that now it works and is much more robust.

We apologize for the inconveniences. Thank you for your patience and support.
