ICC profile can't be linked
« on: 2020 February 04 05:55:33 »
Hello,

Everytime I open Pixinsight I get several errors and warnings about the ICC profile. I've uninstalled, deleted remain files and folders, redownloaded the 1.8.8-4 version with no luck. I can't open the "Color Management Setup" neither.

Windows 10 with all the latest updates (Surface 7 pro).

Thanks in advance,
Jorge

Hi Jorge,

This is not a bug in PixInsight.

This happens because your operating system does not provide a valid ICC profile to characterize your machine's screen. This is a typical issue with Windows on laptops, especially convertible laptops with touch screens. To solve this problem, you should associate a valid ICC profile (such as the standard sRGB IEC61966-2.1 profile) with your monitor. There should be a way to do this from Control Panel, or something similar. Once you have your monitor characterized by a valid ICC profile (the sRGB profile will work almost perfectly), PixInsight will run without problems providing a fully color-managed environment.

Thank you Juan for your support. Do you mean like this? (See attached image)

This began to happen after I clicked a XSIF image and the Pixinsight installation, suddenly, started. I canceled the setup. Before that, everything was working fine.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks in advance.
Jorge

This has already been solved:

Please install the latest 1.8.8-4 installation package.

Thanks for the tip, but I've already uninstalled and reinstalled that version with no luck (even with Revo Uninstaller deep analysis). The problem still remain. Can you explain in more detail why is that message keep appearing?. I did what you suggested in the previous message (look at the image where I selected the right ICC profile).

Thank you in advance.
Jorge

Hi!

Anyone else with this problem? I've searched all over the web with no luck. Because the message is generated by Pixinsight I don't know whatelse to look for.

Thanks in advance,
Jorge
