Install issue on Linux Mint 10.3
« on: 2020 February 19 17:41:52 »
I had PI-linux-x64-1.8.8-20191107-c installed and running but then accidentally ran PI-linux-x64-1.8.8-3-20191213-c install while the old version was running and is said something like "now running in fallback mode" but I'm not sure if that was PI or Mint desktop because icons and launch bar changed.  Now I can't run the --uninstall.  Tried removing PI directories and running the PI-linux-x64-1.8.8-3-20191213-c install and it completes but PixInsight icon is not created.   Any suggestions?  Help!  Thanks!

Which desktop are you running? I did not run install script on my Linux desktop but just created icons manually.

If running KDE you can just right click the "All Applications" in the toolbar and select "Edit Applications." If running Gnome, you can run Alacarte. You can probably just run Alacarte.

Mint calls it Cinnamon.  I have tried running the application manually with no success but I might be doing it incorrectly.

You need to make you are running PixInsight.sh, since it was working previosly i dont expect you should have to make changes to the env. variables being set in that script.

Maybe I messed up the file association or something?

I just ran this to reset most everything back to defaults and it still doesn't open.  "gsettings reset-recursively org.cinnamon"  I also tried logging in with a new user ID and it won't run.  I click the PI icon and nothing happens.

I did a search from root for "pixinsight" and deleted all files and directories, reinstalled and everything seems to be working now.
