Hi,  I have just upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and installed the latest PI version.  I got a new activation code and everything worked fine, until the message pops up 'you have five new updates, would you like to install them?'   I click 'yes', it does it thing and when I exit PI, as usual I get the message 'do you want to install them now?' 'Yes' I say and the updater opens, only when it is finished, and PI opens again, I get an installation of updates failure message. Please see the screen shot I've attached.
To add, I've never had this message before using W7 pro and on the other machine using W10 also.
Any ideas please? :-\  Dave

Hi Dave,

For some reason the PixInsight core application does not terminate execution (after one minute, which is an eternity), and hence the updater program cannot work. This does not happen under normal working conditions.

Instead of upgrading an existing Windows 7 installation, I strongly recommend to perform a clean, fresh Windows 10 installation. Sorry for not having more useful advice to solve this issue.

Hi Juan,
Thanks for such a speedy response. Thinking about what you said, I agree that the W7 upgrade can't have been such a good idea, though every other aspect of the new OS is working fine including updates for W10. A micro shop owner said Microsoft are still providing these updates on their website for the time being, so, out of necessity I took the opportunity.
I suppose you mean to do a clean update from a disk will solve the update problem? The only other thing I can think of is to re-format the drive and perform the ISO IMAGE installation again (to avoid extra costs) with no trace of W7 left, though I doubt the extra effort and time to do such a thing will make no difference to the present situation.
I plan to by a new machine in a month or two so till then I will continue to use PI in its not-updated-state. I may even uninstall the latest and install the previous version.
Thanks again
Dave
