Darks and Bias from a OSC?
« on: 2019 October 25 11:41:10 »
Often when processing an image and applying a master dark or bias I get an error message that they have no relation to the light frames.

This got me to wondering. Since these darks and bias are from a OSC, specifically a ZWO ASI1600mc pro, should they be debayred before integration?

Or just ignore the warning and be happy? :D

No, the calibration of light frames shall be done on the raw Color Filter Array (CFA) data. That means: integration of darks, bias frames or flat-darks, the calibration of flats, the integration of the calibrated flats and the calibration of the light frames shall use CFA data.

Then the calibrated light frames have to be debayered which generates RGB images. This step is necessary before image registration can be performed.

For the mentioned CMOS camera, MasterBias is only needed for the calibration of flat frames in case you don't capture flat-darks, and when calibrating the light frames, the option 'Optimize' should not be used.

When following this advice, no warning should appear during light frame calibration.

debayer should only happen after calibration...

are you using dark optimization? i think you should not do that with a CMOS camera because of amp glows and what have you.
