HA Luminance...
« on: 2019 October 07 03:30:30 »
Hi all first time posting so be gentle..
Im trying to process my Cave nebula but its not going well...i have good data and lots of O111 & Sii bit i think i could be short of some HA data..only 12x 20min's  where as my O111 & Sii are made up of 30 + 20 min subs on each filter

so my question is: can i make a Luminace image from my 12 HA to boost the ha as a test. until i can get more HA??...
however if this is practical would it be a good fix?

Hi,

I have heard that you should do more Lum and Ha than the other filters but I have had great results, sometime with only 5 or 6 subs (30 minutes).

If using LRGBCombination to combine images, you can "Weight" the channels to have more impact than the others or set L=NGC1234_Ha, R=NGC1234_Ha, G=NGC1234_Sii and B=NGC1234_Oiii.

In PixelMath you could multiply your Ha by a value to increase its effect i.e. (NGC1234_Ha * 1.3) + NGC1234_Oiii + NGC1234_Sii or something similar.
