can't run PI on debian linux?

I can install, but when I try to start the program from /bin/PixInsight, I get the error pasted below.

This is on debian 8.6 (jessie). Should I just re-install and hope for the best?

Hi there,

is there any strong reason to install such an old Debian version. Current stable version is Debian GNU/Linux 10 (buster).
PI runs on Debian 10 without any problems.

Just being conservative, maybe too much so!

Will update and try again.
