Turning on Printing in a Mac
« on: 2019 August 30 10:32:12 »
I know that you can change the executable in windows to turn printing on but can you do the same with a Mac?  If so does anyone have instructions on how to do it?

Thanks Sean

i think you may have to open Terminal.app and then start pixinsight as so:

/Applications/PixInsight/PixInsight.app/Contents/MacOS/PixInsight --with-printer

if you close the terminal window or press control-C in the terminal window, PI will just quit, so be careful.

there might be a way to make a shortcut that calls pixinsight like this but i've never tried to do it.

OK so I wasn't aware that PI even had a print option, so why isn't the Print options listed under the File menu when the program is opened normally like any other executable?

Hey Dave, apparently Juan was not happy with the printing function and so it was turned off on the new versions.  But you can go in and change it by right clicking on the icon and changing the pathway to add "with Printer" and it will turn it back on for you.

Here is what he sent me for a windows box

to turn them on, right-click on the blue icon you use to open PI. In the context menu, click Properties. There, on the Shortcut tab, change the Target to "C:\Program Files\PI\bin\PI.exe" --with-printer (include quoatation marks and spaces). The next time you open the program, the menu items will be restored. Clicking Printer Setup in the File menu opens a dialog that takes you directly to your printer’s controls."

Hey it Worked!! who hoo

Thanks a lot.  I don't often make prints but when I do it will be nice to be able to.  Worked like a charm.

Appreciate the help from everyone.
