Empty Image? Not so much.
« on: 2019 July 04 08:02:23 »
I keep getting the message "Error: /Volumes/ASTR WIN/Pictures/Astronomy/Lights/M10-LRGB/B_new/registered/B/M10_45sec_1x1_2019-07-02_frame20__B_c_r.xisf: Zero or insignificant signal detected (empty image?)" when running BPP. when I look at the image, it is very clearly not empty, but it looks rather strange.
See the attached image!
I have reset all the settings in BPP back to factory settings, and still get the same result. Any ideas what's going on??
Thanks, and happy 4th to my fellow US residents!
Alan

there is probably some problem with your master dark. check if the background level in the dark is higher than the light. also check the dark to make sure it has higher levels than the bias.

AFAIK my darks and bias masters are fine. In fact when I use them with other subs, it works just fine. Although I was experimenting with different gains and offsets, I used 139/21, which is the same values used in my darks, flats, and bias frames, in case that may have anything to do with it. I think I may have used the ZWO driver for my subs, whereas I used the ASCOM ASI driver in the past. Any chance that would make a difference? I'm using a 1600 mono cooled.

yep, changing the gain and or camera drivers will probably lead to problems like this. can you re-take the calibration frames using the same gain/driver as the new lights? (just a handful would work to test this)

Darn, and here I am away for the weekend with just my files and my computer, thinking I could do something with all the shots I took the night before I left. Grr! I should've known better than to change anything!
