Problems registering Ha SII subs
« on: 2019 March 20 04:07:39 »
I have captured some Ha and SII subs of the Jellyfish neb. Having trouble getting them to register properly.

First time through, used one of the Ha subs as a reference. Stars we not aligned at all (ie. off by several star diameters). Second time used an SII sub as reference - tried using the cleanest one I had. Still not quite aligned but much closer (didn't notice until I was well along the processing). But still quite noticeable when zoomed in. Zoomed in example attached (Ha mapped to red, SII to green).

I'm still trying to get a hang of the ropes with PI so perhaps I am missing something obvious. If anyone has some suggestions or can point to a good reference on the issue, it would be appreciated. Registration was done via BPP and then Image Integration done separately (following Light Vortex tutorial).

Thanks,
DaveNL

Hi Dave - As a test you could try to register just one Ha and one Sii frame using StarAlignment. I would suggest setting the Registration model to 2-D Surface Splines. If this process aligns the two frames accurately, then, maybe it is some setting in the BPP Image Registration section.

Wish I could be of more help.
