Window outlines messed up
« on: 2019 February 02 15:17:42 »
I'm getting a strange problem where my window outlines are larger than the actual window.  This only happens in PixInsight.  Has anyone else seen this problem?  I think it is because I have two monitors at different resolutions.  Monitor 1 is 3840 x 2160, and monitor 2 is 1920 x 1080. The problem usually happens when I drag a window to the second monitor and then back to the first monitor.  The program still functions correctly, but the screens just look weird.

I'm using version 01.08.05.1353 Ripley (x64) of PixInsight, and I have a GeForce GTX 980 graphics card.

Thanks,
Ken

i think if you upgrade the core to the latest, this should go away. 1353 is downrev at this point.

Please note that multiple monitor desktops with mixed high-dpi and low-dpi displays are not supported by PixInsight (yes, this information should be included in the System Requirements page; I'll add it ASAP). This is a limitation of current PixInsight core versions that I'll try to overcome in a future version, but we have much more urgent priorities at present. Sorry for the inconvenience.

That being said, what you are experiencing is quite strange; I haven't seen this problem before. This is a machine-specific issue under an unsupported hardware configuration.

Juan,

I did upgrade to the latest version, but it still has the same problem.  However, I did find a workaround. On screens that have collapsible sections, just expanding or collapsing a section forces a redraw of the entire screen and fixes the messed up outline.

Anyway, it's not a big deal.  I can live with it.   :)

Thanks,
Ken

The same issue occurs when I remotely access (via Windows Remote Desktop Connection) another PC which has a different screen resolution. Ken's workaround works for me too. It is a minor issue so no worries :)
