Image Registration can not be interrupted
« on: 2009 July 03 08:47:16 »

Hi,

I'm running an apparently futile image registration task but PI won't let me abort it. I've clicked the button several times and Vista says the app is slow in responding but eventually takes the message. Still processing continues.
Best,

Thanks for discovering this. I cannot reproduce it on Linux and Mac OS X, so I guess it's another Windows-only issue. I'll run the Windows virtual machine to see what happens.

This is still happening in 1.5.5. The weird thing is that it appears to stop searching as there are no more messages in the console. Still PI doesn't 'come back' and pressing the pause/abort button doesn't help.

It's doing incredible amounts of memory mallocs and frees. I just looked and PI was using 2.5GB only to drop to 500MB a few seconds later. It then climbed back up to 700MB. I then helped it out of its misery by killing it. I will upload the images that caused this although I first have to reproduce it on 16b versions.

Hi Sander,

This bug has been fixed in version 1.5.6. I know it sounds weird, but it is related to a similar issue with the ABE process. The wild allocations/deallocations are indeed part of the problem.

The first PI 1.5.6 installation files are being uploaded right now. I hope it will be available for all platforms later tonight (here).
