Flat frame OSC color balance
« on: 2019 January 12 06:09:25 »
If an OSC sensor has a color balance issue that shows in both images and flats, can or will preprocessing in PixInsight remove that color imbalance?

Further investigation shows that the light source I was using for flats only appeared to be spectrally balanced. When debayered and stretched it was apparent that the red and blue LEDs were quite a bit stronger than the green, so the individual flat frames had a magenta cast. Question remains... knowing this, can this be offset in PI somehow?

just make sure that all 3 channels of the flats have enough signal. the color balance is not important.

just do backgroundneutralization to the image followed by colorcalibration (or just use the more advanced PhotometricColorCalibration)

for a preview, just unlink the channels in STF and recompute the autoSTF. it should look reasonable.
