PIX update does not work correctly

Hello, When I install a new clean PIX and then click on the PIX image file or PIX icon file, PIX will start and open the corresponding file. As soon as I update the PIX and click on the mentioned PIX files, the system requires an additional installation and looks for *.msi PIX package (DISK1), which of course does not exist. I tried to uninstall PIX completely, to clean PIX registers (PIX records), but it did not help. What with this? Thanks. Milan

Hi Milan,

Since you mention .msi files I assume you are running on Windows.  Can you still start PixInsight from the Start menu and then open image files, etc?  I presume you can and that the only issue is with what Windows does when you click on a file associated with the PixInsight application.  Is that correct?

yes I work with win version (WIN10/64).
Standard way is possible and OK. I can start PIX and load icons and open any  (PIX) image. But ...

1. Clicking on the icon is more convenient, especially for a project or a process icons file
2. Something is wrong

Hi Milan,

That behaviour is controlled by Windows settings, not the PixInsight application.  I have seen it happen before but can't currently replicate the problem (I'm running a test version of PI 1.8.6.)

I agree it's an inconvenience, but a pretty minor one IMO.
