Any suggestions for processing DSLR data acquired with an IDAS LPS-V4 filter?

Hi all- I have just received and installed an IDAS LPS V4 filter with my Canon T3 DSLR modified camera. Weather predictions indicate I may not get to try it for a week or more.

The reason for purchasing this filter is to achieve better LP rejection. If this filter works well (meaning the noise is reduced, and, I'm able to process the data into acceptable images) I would consider trying the new Opt Triad filter for even more significant LP rejection.

I will be using Pixinsight to process my images:
Does anyone have any experience processing images taken with the IDAS LPS-V4 filter?
Do I try to do BackgroundNeutralization and ColorCalibration as with normal OSC data, or, do I process it like NB data?

An other ideas/suggestions welcomed.

Hi,

I use an IDAS with my 700d (T5i) and follow the same workflow as I've always done.
It obviously affects the colour balance of the subs quite significantly but that's resolved during initial processing.
Main difference I found was that my subs had a strong green-blue colour if the channels weren't unlocked in STF (as opposed to the orange wipe-out I used to get  )

Hi Steve,

I have an IDAS-P2 which I dusted off and used recently while testing a new set up with an ASI1600mm camera and an assortment of camera lenses.  I was doing RGB imaging under heavy light pollution and my normal processing workflow with BackgroundNeutralization followed by either ColorCalibration or PhotometricColorCalibration produced a decent result.  Here's an example: https://www.astrobin.com/368040/0/

I expect the V4 filter will work similarly.  As Rich mentioned, they do mess with the colour balance but it needs calibration even without the LPS filter.

Just to add something to the discussion if your having issues with star color balance with an LP filter(been there, done that) then one option is to take a set of images with a shorter exposure time without the filter. It doesn't need to many images either. Process that image set just for the stars and substitute those stars into your LP filter image.

Thanks for the responses and suggestions.
I went to the Opt Triad filter website, and, they have a video showing how they process the Triad data. It is basically following the normal DSLR processing approach which agrees with what all of you have suggested. Looks like my question is answered.
